Alberta E. Ward

Ward, Alberta E. Age 89, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was on September 15, 1931 in Wyalusing, PA to the late Sheldon and Elsie (Johnson) Benjamin. She was predeceased by her son, John Zimmer and daughter, Connie McKay. Alberta is survived by her sons, Charles (Francine) Zimmer of Sayre, Dale (Bonnie) Zimmer, Gale (Tammy) Zimmer and Martin (Carolyn) Ward all of Elmira; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Alberta was a member of the American Legion Post #443, the Elmira BPOE, the Horseheads Eagles and VFW Post #901 and she owned and operated Wards Grill. Alberta had a big heart and would help anyone that was in need. She loved to cook and would feed anyone at anytime they wanted and she never met a stranger. A private family memorial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
