Alfred A. Stermer

STERMER, Alfred A. Age 83, of Big Flats, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 5, 2021, after a brief illness. He was born in Elmira, NY on March 7, 1937 to the late John and Grace (Dupree) Stermer. Alfred was predeceased by his 9 siblings, John, Edward, Rena Roblyer, Albert, Robert, Raymond, Francis (Paul), Rose Ann Stermer and Helen Cassada. Alfred is survived by sisters-in-law, Lucy Stermer, Kathleen Stermer and Dorothy Stermer; several nieces and nephews. Alfred was a veteran of the US Naval Reserves and retired from Corning Inc., at the Big Flats Plant as a Millwright, with over 42 years of service. He was a lifelong Catholic, communicant of The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and served as an usher. Alfred was also a member of the Big Flats Seniors and the Historical Society. Family and friends are invited to call at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home, 1004 Lake Street, Elmira on Wednesday, February 10th from 11am-12pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church at 1pm with Fr.
