Arthur Smith Sr.

Smith, Arthur Sr. Age 73, of Elmira, NY, passed away on February 25, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was born on August 25, 1947 in Memphis, TN to the late Bernice Smith. He is also predeceased by his father, Eugene and siblings, North Smith, Mattie Slater, Johnny Ashford, Cornelia Liggans and Robert Smith. Arthur is survived by his children, Sandra (Rodney) Blacksher, Gloria (Roman) Wells, Mickey (Joseph) Gaskins and Arthur (Aisha) Smith Jr.; brother, Chester Smith; sister, Elizabeth Hentz; close family friend, Mary (Bill) Mortimer; grandchildren, Chris and Rodney Blacksher, Morgan, Megan, Millennia and Roman Wells, Raemel Kinner, Debria, Debron, Ajah, Ajhan, Kamin and Kymon Smith; 4 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arthur retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital after 42 years of service. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 5th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place there at 1 p.m. with Rev. Roman Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Adhering to NYS regulations, all guests must wear masks and maintain social distancing at all times.
