AUSTIN, Betty Lou (Berthod) (Norris) July 22, 2022, our beloved mother and grandmother and great-grandmother Betty Lou, passed into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ. Betty Lou will be laid to rest next to her daughter, Elayne in Woodlawn Cemetery. Betty is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Orfitelli of Manchester, CT and Barbara Norris of Elmira, NY; her loyal friend, Linda Martin. Betty Lou is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved very much. Betty Lou was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Austin (Gordon Norris), daughters, Rosemary Norris and Elayne Evertt, sons, Gordie Norris and Scott Austin and her parents, Marius and Ethel Berthod of Horseheads. Betty Lou graduated from EBI, worked 5 years in home health care, 5 years at the YWCA, served for 16 years in the Boy Scouts of America and was a covenant member of the Elmira Wesleyan Church. Betty Lou enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables, especially gladiolus. Throughout the years she loved making quilts and blankets for her children. Family and friends are invited to call Friday, July 29, 2022 from 11am to 1pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1pm. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
