Coralea C. Lewis

Lewis, Coralea C. Age 65, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 after a courageous month-long battle at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center with family and hospital staff by her side. She was born on November 28, 1957 in Elmira, NY to the late Leon Levi Cody and Barbara (Parke) McCartney. She is predeceased by her step-father, William McCartney Sr. and brother, Daniel Cody. Coralea is survived by her children, Sarah (Andy Drake) Lewis, Shawn (Kati) Lewis, Russell Lewis, Rose Lewis and Ryan Lewis; “adopted” son, Jon Adams; step-children, Merle Lewis and Rita Lewis; brothers, Michael (Kathy) Cody and William (Cheryl) McCartney Jr.; sister, Anna (Wesley) Hibbard; many grandchildren; beloved cousin, Terry Wheaton; aunts, Margie, Ruthie and Annie; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Coralea enjoyed serving as a New Bern, NC police officer as an early career before becoming a mother and then retiring from the Elmira City School District as a bus driver after many years of service. She loved helping others and being with family and friends. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 25th from 3 to 5 pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there at 5 pm with Rev. Roger Behrens officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
