David Eric Cummings

July 22, 1957 – June 26, 2026

David Eric Cummings, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. Born on July 22, 1957, David was a man dedicated to his family, his country, and his community.

A proud graduate of Elmira Free Academy (EFA), Class of 1975, David was an avid athlete during his youth, excelling in both wrestling and baseball. Following high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in St. Louis, Missouri. David later built a dedicated career working as an electrician for New York State.

Outside of his professional life, David had a deep passion for cooking and loved nothing more than feeding the people he cared about. His love for sports also carried into adulthood, where he shared his time and knowledge by serving as a baseball coach for many of his son’s baseball leagues, mentoring young athletes and fostering a love for the game.

David was predeceased by his loving parents, Chester and Phyllis Cummings, as well as his sisters, Kathy Penders and Cheryl McCullough.

He is survived by his siblings, Melody Grooms and Joe Cummings (Judy), both of Rochester, NY,  Karen Wenger (Larry) of Pasadena, MD, and Adelle Dean of Rochester, NY, alongside a close-knit extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends.

David’s legacy lives on through his cherished children: Lauren Dunlap (Mike) of Elmira, NY; Keith Cummings (Paulina) of Denver, CO; and Jessica Cummings of Huntsville, AL.

He is also survived by his devoted partner, JoAnn Siedman, and her loving family: John Siedman (Ronnie) of Syracuse, NY, along with their children Nicholas and Benny; and Joel Siedman of Washington, D.C.
