Edith L. Rumsey

Rumsey, Edith L. Age 93, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was born on December 18, 1929 in Elkland, PA to the late Ralph and Alice (Binkey) King. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Harold Rumsey, son, Jay Rumsey, granddaughter, Heidi Drake and 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Carpenter of Horseheads, Deborah Drake of Fort Wort, TX and Susan Smetanka of Big Flats; sisters, Joyce Vangelder, Nancy Southard and Carolyn Southard; grandchildren, Nicole Carpenter, Chad (Lisa Farr) Carpenter, Kristen Hilker, Stacey McIntosh and Jason Drake; 2 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephew. It was Edith’s wish that no services take place. Interment will be held privately in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, PA at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
