Elmer C. Barrett

Elmer Cherokee Barrett (Sonny) Age 69, of Lockwood, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Elmer was born on March 18, 1954 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Pauline May Hults Barrett Conley and Elwood Recer Barrett. Elmer comes from a family of nine children. Elmer is survived by his sisters, Louise Barrett, Rhosanna Barrett, Dorothy Tucker and Delcia Allen; Elmer is also survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Michele Barrett. Elmer was the dedicated father of Holly Barrett, Sarah Beavers, Ralph Beavers, Sasha Barrett, Casondra Barrett, George Santose, April Barrett, Kacey Beavers and Edward Barrett. He was also the proud grandfather of 25 grandchildren. Elmer was a Private First Class in the United States Army for 6 years. He received the National Defence Service Medal for his work as a marksman of M16, as well as a sharpshooter with a hand grenade. Elmer was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He was a sought after mechanic as well. He had an extreme love for his dogs, Duke, Duchess and Karma.. Elmer was devoted to his family and believed that “Family Always Comes First.” His memories will always be cherished and shared by all. He will live on through all of those who loved him so dearly. He was a hero to many and a friend to all. There will be a memorial service held at a later date for close family and friends at the convenience of the family.
