Elvenia White (Payne) was born on August 6, 1918 in Chauncey, Georgia. She began the journey to her eternal resting place on July 19, 2018. Elvenia was one of six siblings born to Johnny Lee and Lillian Payne. She went on to marry Elzie White, who predeceased her. They were joined for 44 years.
Elvenia had many blessings in her life and fourteen of them were children, eight boys and six girls. She was predeceased by two of her sons. Her children went on to extend the family legacy, providing Elvenia with the joyful noise of 30 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
Elvenia spent most of her adult life as a faithful servant of God. She accepted Our Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1961. She worshipped and received the word of God at Faith Temple Community Church in Elmira, New York. Although her greatest effort was extended to raising her family, Elvenia also believed in serving others. She would visit jails, hospitals, and any other organization in the local community where she felt there was a need to spread the word of God. She herself was a true missionary and her eldest son went on to become a minister, currently serving in Rochester, New York. Elvenia was truly a blessed servant of God and we all pray that her hard work will deliver her to the final place of glorification.
A celebration of Elvenia’s life will take place at Faith Temple Community Church on Standish Street in Elmira, New York on Monday, July 23, 2018. The family will be receiving guests at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to Faith Temple Community Church.
