Fred E. Swank

Swank, Fred E. Age 91, of Horseheads, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2019 after being well taken care of at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Health Care in Corning. Fred was born Jan. 18, 1927 in Binghamton, the son of Walter and Grace Swank. Fred served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 as an auto mechanic. He spent most of his working career at Van Brunt Motors where he served as the Parts Manger until retirement. Fred married Marie V. Stone on February 5th, 1949. Fred provided dedicated health care to his beloved wife in later years, as she battled Alzheimer’s disease, until her passing on June 12, 2009. They raised two children. Fred is survived by a son, Marty Swank; sister Shirley Dean; brother Bud Swank; Granddaughter Jessica Swank; Great Grandson, Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, son Terry, brothers Donald and Walter. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 22nd from 10 to 11 am at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there at 11 am with Rev. David Sullivan officiating. Interment will take place in Bath National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
