Georgia L. Knox

Knox, Georgia L. Age 95, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at home. She was born in Burlington, NC on July 27, 1926 to the late Dale Junius and Lorena (Allen) Enoch. She was predeceased by her husband, Sloman Knox Sr. and daughter, Marquetta Knox. Georgia is survived by her children, James Knox, Lorena Knox, Sloman (Esther) Knox Jr., Eric Knox, Deneen Knox-Brown and Jesse Knox; step-daughter, Lynn (Mathew) Smith; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Georgia obtained her Associates Degree from AT&T College in North Carolina and retired from the Elmira City School District with over 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church where she was a deaconess and sang in the choir. Georgia enjoyed time spent with her close friends playing bingo and her children say she is the strongest woman they ever knew and she will be greatly missed. All services for Georgia will be held at a later date. Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
