Gertrude C. Burt

Burt, Gertrude C. Age 95, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Tafelski) Bogaczyk. She was predeceased by her husband, William Burt Jr., daughter, Sandra Baker, sisters, Theresa Steves, Cecelia Swinsick, Margaret Sincox, Regina Dake, Helen Zuke, Marion Mandell and Dorothy Goodwin, brothers, William, Joseph, Vincent and Clement Bogaczyk. Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Janine Taylor; grandchildren, Courtney Taylor and James (Liz) Baker Jr.; great-grandson, William Taylor, who made the sun shine brighter each day; brother, Edmund (Erna) Bogaczyk; along with several nieces and nephews. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s, St. Patrick’s and the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish’s. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 154 in Elmira Heights and the IAV Auxiliary. Gertrude retired from Fairway Spring Co. after 43 years of dedicated service. Time spent with her family was her greatest joy and her faith made her strong. Gertrude enjoyed trips with her friends, the senior games, reading, bowling and gardening. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 20th from 4 to 6 pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 21st at 10:30 am in St. Patrick’s Church with Father Richard Farrell as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
