Gladys M. Rice

RICE, Gladys M. Age 83, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Gladys was born in New Eria, PA on April 23, 1939, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Kennedy) Mathews. Gladys was also predeceased by her husband, Robert Rice in 2017, son, Robert Rice II, daughter, Minnie Lane, adopted parents, Frederick and Florence Mathews, step-mother, Nellie Mathews, sisters, Nellie Mathews and Georganna Pond, brothers, James, George Jr., Elmer, William, Charles, Fred,and Robert Mathews. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Jean Shelley; son, Thomas Rice Sr.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Rankin and Leona Rifenburg; brothers, Richard, Roger and Walter Mathews. many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11am in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are with James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
