Harry J. Sr. Edwards

EDWARDS, Harry J. Sr. Age 80, of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira. Harry was born in Ovid, NY on July 1, 1943, son of the late Eddy and Marion (Brown) Edwards. Harry retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira after many dedicated years as a correctional officer. Harry served his county in the US Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post# 154, VFW Post# 901 and the VVA. He was a proud member of the Chemung County Honor Guard. He will be missed dearly by those that knew him. Harry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Harry Jr. (Jill) and Scott (Jennifer); grandchildren, Daniel and Ryan Edwards and Isiaah Letourneau; several nieces and nephews Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1pm in North Presbyterian Church with Pastor Evan Hansen officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Fitzsimmons Cemetery with full military Honors.
