Howard F. Sr. Evertts

EVERTTS, Howard F. Sr. Age 87, of Elmira, NY passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. Howard was born in Elmira on October 23, 1933, son of the late Erwin and Anna (Begley) Evertts. Howard was also predeceased by his wife, Maude in 2013. Howard retired from the Elmira Police Department after 37 years. He was a dedicated patrol officer and was later promoted to detective. He served our country honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, going to track meets to see his sons compete in running events and he loved vacationing in Daytona Beach, FL. Howard had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. He will be deeply missed by those that knew him. Howard is survived by his sons, Howard (Lisa), Daniel and Steven (Lisa) Evertts; grandchildren, Leah (Michael) Champion, Jason, Mark, Kalia, Brandon and Taylor; great grandchildren, Chase Champion and Brooke Evertts; sister-in-law, Velma Evertts. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 11 am to 1pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1pm. Interment will follow in Fitzsimmons Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Howard to the Elmira PBA.
