Joseph “Jack” Bellinger, Sr Age 87 of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully at Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital on Tuesday December 21st, 2021 with his loving and caring Grandson Jeremy (Trish) Bellinger by his side after a short illness. Born November 23rd, 1934, in Elmira, NY, Jack was the son of the late Joseph B and Lois E (Breese) Bellinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in the death by his ex-wife Joy M (Walker) Bellinger, his sisters Arlene Woodruff and Joyce Olevnik and his lifelong best friend Jimmy Miller with whom he loved traveling the East Coast with. Survived by his children, Joseph J (Terry) Bellinger Jr, Sherry Reed, Christine (Richard) Haynes, Ted (Bonnie) Bellinger, Mark Bellinger and Scott Bellinger. Jack leaves behind his special companion Wolfie, a dog that had been abandoned and they rescued each other and his special friend, Fred Stone. Survived by one brother Mike (Connie) Bellinger and sisters of whom he was close to, Joly Wright and Kim Saunders and sisters, Donna Bellinger and Jennette (Gary) Somers. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack had retired from ID Booth and had previously worked at Kennedy Valve and Chemung Pipe Supply. He enjoyed doing mechanical work on his own vehicles, racing stock car at Chemung Speedrome in his younger years, was an avid deer hunter most of his life and loved watching Nascar races and NY Yankees baseball games on the television. Jack loved traveling the East Coast and talking to no end about the roadways and his travels. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday December 28th from 3-4 PM at the Barrett Funeral Home Lake Street Elmira, New York. Funeral Service will follow at 4 PM. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
