Joyce M. Shutt

Joyce M. Shutt Age 90, of Elmira, NY passed away on January 1, 2024. Joyce was an adored grandmother and mother that gained her wings and walked home with the angels. Joyce was born in Elmira, NY on May 15, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Ethel (Garvey) Dacey. Joyce married the love of her life, George “Dick” Shutt and spent 60 lovely years together until his passing in 2022. Together they raised their one son, Terrance, but she enjoyed the role of being a grandma, which she absolutely loved and wouldn’t have changed it for the world. She was a one of a kind lady like no other. After her granddaughters were grown, Joyce and George went on to be full time campers at Sampson State Park and spent the winters in Florida. Joyce is survived by her son, Terrance; granddaughters, Denise Crouthamel, Shannon (Mark) and Amanda (Jesse) Shutt; 14 great grandchildren, Brittany and Lexi Crouthamel, Mackenzy and Kyrston Schuyler, Lindzie Shutt, Khayden, Joseph, Hanna and Klayton Hobart, Nicholas, Noah and Nathan Shores, Collin DeRico and Dominic “little guy” DeRico whom she adored; 7 great great grandchildren; 1 brother and 1 sister; several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by 3 brothers, daughter-in-law, Mary Shutt, son-in-law, David Crouthamel, sister-in-law, Donna Dacey. This one of a kind lady will be laid to rest next to her late husband, George in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. “I have only slipped away into the next room, I am.
