Warters, Keith Lowell age 75, of Elmira passed away peacefully at Chemung County nursing facility on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was born August 17, 1950 in Elmira, New York, the son of late Lowell Warters and Louise Ellen O’Hare. Keith is survived by his wife, Linda Marie Warters of 54 years, son Gregory (Sherie) Warters of Fort Myers, Fl., daughter, Dawn(James) French of Greenwell Springs, La, daughter Theresa(Christian) Brown of Baldwinsville, New York. Grandchildren, Steven Warters(Rachel) , Kayla Collins(Colton) Allison Brown (Luke), Jacob Brown, Caleb French and Rebecca French . Great grandchildren, Emmitt Warters, Aiden Warters, Eliza Collins, Callum Collins and Gordon Pound. He is also survived by his siblings Pam Haven, Joan Kuryla, Terry Warters, Wendi Westervelt, Sheri Candee and Susan Clark. Keith graduated from West Hill high school in Syracuse, New York on June 22, 1969. He married Linda McKinnon on May 15, 1971 in Fulton, New York. Keith was a Cold War veteran serving in the United States Army from August 20, 1970 until September 1990. Following his career in the military, he worked for the star gazette for 15+ years. His family was his life, he was so proud of five generations. Keith was an avid bowler most of his life with a high game of 299, and a high series of 697. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan, and NASCAR fan, attending Watkins Glen races for over 25 years. His favorite drivers were Jeff Bodine and Tony Stewart. He also enjoyed collecting coins and genealogy. Services will be held at James D Barrett funeral home, 1004 Lake St, Elmira, New York on Saturday, September 27, 2025 calling hours 1-2:30, 2:30 military honors and 3 pm service.
