Kim E. Backer

Backer, Kim E. Of Elmira NY went to be with the Lord 12/05/2019 at age of 61 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center after fighting a long hard battle. She was born 2/19/1958 and was predeceased by her parents Frances and Shirley Vertoske, her longtime friend John Backer, aunt Helen (Honey) Beckman and her granddaughter Delanee Becraft. She is survived by her brothers, William (Sue) Vertoske, Bryan (Barbara) Vertoske and Donald Vertoske; sisters, Kathy (Jim) Riley, Karen (John) Paige and Mary (Dan) Beckman as well as her son who was her pride and joy, Trevor Backer and daughter, Katie Backer-Becraft (Anthony Joe), her 2 grandchildren whom she cherished Avery & Eastyn Becraft & is expecting another granddaughter this spring who she fought so hard to be able to meet but God had other plans. She had several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was extra close to Aunts, Rita Westervelt & Betty Harter. Her best friend, Mike Denicola who was with her day in and day out & Cheryl Machuga who she was so close to. She was a determined selfless woman with the biggest heart & always made the best out of every situation. She had so much faith and always went above and beyond for her children & grandchildren. She was retired from Guthrie in Southport as a radiology technician & she loved her job & coworkers. She will be greatly missed. Burial will be held on Friday December 13, 2019 at 1:00pm at Woodlawn Cemetery (Heavenly View). The family would like to thank Kim’s team of Doctors and nurses that assisted her during her fight.
