Koreena L. Smith

October 2, 1984 — September 30, 2021

Koreena L. Besley Smith Born October 2, 1984 in Elmira NY passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 30, 2021 in her Elmira home. Koreena is the beautiful daughter of Bonnie (Sidney) Dupuis and Joel (Robin) Besley. Koreena is survived by her three wonderful children, Luke Robert, Kalib Joseph and Zoey Braelyn. Koreena loved her kid with her whole heart! Koreena is also survived by her two sisters, Amber (Brad) Vinsek and their children Briauna, Nathaniel and Olivia. Crysta (Michael) Oakley and their daughter, Aubrey Joy. Koreena loved being “Auntie Kona” to all of them. She was very excited about becoming a great aunt and could not wait to spoil that baby with love. She was also survived by her Grandpa Harold Besley, stepbrother Christopher (Sherri) Dupuis, Sean McKinney, Adam (Jessica) Koehler and their children. Koreena had a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, including her cousin Heather “Heddy” Moyer-Effland whom she loved spending time with. Koreena was preceded by her Papa and Grandma VanDeusen (Robert Sr. & Myrtie), Grandmother Kathy Besley, cousin Timothy Effland Jr, and step grandparents Sidney “Sam” Dupuis, Levi and Rose Bearb. Koreena was a feisty, spunky, sassy, tell it like it is person who loved life and changing her hair. She also loved watching horror movies and eating cupcakes, chicken wing dip, pizza and deviled eggs with her longtime friend Allison Lohmeyer. Koreena loved flip flops and she would wear them to every family function including Christmas breakfast in two feet of snow! Koreena not only loved her children, but she also loved Ambriella, daughter to Ashley Granger who spent a lot of time with Koreena, quickly becoming part of Koreenas family. Koreena was always willing to help when she could. Whether it was taking care of friends’ babies like her own, letting family crash on her couch or driving hours in the middle of the night to pick up a cousin whose car broke down. If Koreena was able to help she always did. Koreena was a long-time employee at ABLE2. She loved her job so much that she stayed there for a week straight, during the pandemic shut down, just to make sure her clients were taken care of. Koreenas spunky personality, beautiful smile and curly handwriting will be missed by everyone that she knew and loved. Until we all see you again, fly high my beautiful daughter, fly high Mommy misses and loves you very much!
