Leon A. Dean Sr.

Dean, Leon A. Sr. Age 86, of Elmira, NY, passed away on February 22, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 24, 1937 in Elmira, NY to the late Leon and Ruth (Scott) Dean. Leon was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Catherine, daughter Mary Lou and son, Richard. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Dean (John), Bonnie Bellinger (Ted), Larry Dean (Maryann) and Leon Dean Jr (Bobbie); along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren and his best feline friend “Suzie”. Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to be at the lake fishing, having barbeques and bowling. He also loved the Mets, racing, driving motor coach for Terp’s, playing Santa Claus and playing Euchre. Leon was in the 969th division of the Army Reserves for 30 years. He was a Mason for the Cashmere Grotto and a member of the American Legion, Scottish Rite and Senior Euchre Club. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 26th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 27th at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Leon loved his family and was always there for us. Love You Dad!
