Denierio, Louis A. of Elmira, NY passed away April 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Louis was born in Elmira on May 15, 1926, son of the late Anthony and Christina (DiCamillo) Denierio who came to NY from Campo Basso, Italy. He grew up in “The Patch.” Louis was employed at Rossi Lanes as a young boy. Attended St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic School, and graduated from Elmira Free Academy. Louis served His country honorably in the US NAVY during WWII and the Korean War. He valiantly took part in Exercise Tiger and was amongst the first US NAVY SEALS (Underwater Demolition Team) during His time in the military aboard the LST 511. Upon Honorable Discharge, He worked at Remington Rand, Lackawanna Railroad, and as a guard at Bendix. Louis is survived by his daughters, Tammy Denierio Tomisman and Sharlene Oakden; sons, Christopher and Jeffrey Denierio; Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and many friends. Louis’s highlight in life was daily breakfast, dinners, travel, and the valuable love and time He spent with Daughter-Tammy, Grandchildren-Rhiannon, Christina, Tanner, and Great Grandchildren- Isaiah, Lydon, and Cambria; and dinners with a friend, Colleen. Louis was the most honest, loving, hilarious, kind, compassionate, thoughtful, hard-working (usually working 2 or more jobs at a time), Man of ethics and of great belief in His Lord that anyone could ever know. He was extraordinarily loved by everyone who had the honor of knowing Him or even entering His presence. Lou and His Family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Thomas Rodgers, Lee and his other staff members; Dr. Vidyasagar Mokureddy and staff, Mary-Lynn (VA nurse). Honoring Lou’s wishes, made known to His family, his services will be private. A private graveside service will be held for Louis with Military Honors on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Bath National Cemetery. “A life well-lived, job well-done, Sailor.
