HOLDEN, Margaret “Peggy” Age 91, of Pine City, NY was surrounded by her family as she passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, due to complications from Covid 19. Peggy was born in Oswego, NY on July 26, 1929, daughter of the late Berchman and Margaret (Serow) McGann. Peggy was also predeceased by her husband Gerald Holden Sr. in 1987, son, Richard Holden, daughter-in-law, Jonna Holden and sister, Elaine Lilly. Peggy graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1945 and later married her husband, Gerald on October 27, 1950. Peggy worked for Iszards, RKB and A&P Plant. She also worked for Elmira Airport Security, The Laundry Basket and the Arnot Ogden Medical Center first as a dietary aide and later as a nurse’s aide until her retirement. Peggy volunteered for the Arnot Ogden Medical Center gift shop, Thrift Shop and the Same Day Surgery Unit. She was a member of Grottoettes, Big Flats American Legion, Ancient Order of the Hibernians and Card Club where she cherished being around with several of her dear friends. Peggy is survived by her children, Kathy (Robert) Sills, Gerald (Robin) Holden Jr., Ann (Ronald) Squires, Karen (David) Richards and Drs. Douglas (Jean Weng) Holden; grandchildren, Robbie Sills, Chad Sills, Peggy (Tom) Sills-Ryan, Marc (Rachel) Holden, Chris (Cynthia) Holden, Ross Holden, Dana (Amy) Squires, Luann Squires, Jessica (Seth Simons) Johnson, Jody (Jennifer) Johnson, Alexandra, Austin, Samantha, Tanya Holden, Cara (Josh) Glidden, Holly (Matt Usack) Richards, Aryn (Gregg) Frutchey, Lindsay Jilson;; great grandchildren, Zackary and Ziah Sills, Lillie Moore, Caleb and Emma Ryann, Rachel and Rebecca Squires, Nicholas, Lian, Kian and Audria Holden, Peyton Bowen, Ayden, Ryann, Jeramyah, Joshua and Jayla Johnson; great-great grandchild, Colton Minnier; brother, Albert (Ailsa McGann, along with many nieces and nephews. It was Peggy’s wish for no services to be held. There will be a memorial service planned this summer which will be announced by her family. In order to recognize the care, dedication and compassion shown to Peggy in her final days by the Nurses and Staff of 2B at Arnot Ogden, the family has set up an endowed scholarship in Peggy’s name at the hospital.
