Mary F. Updike

UPDIKE, Mary Frances Gilbert Age 71, of Elmira, NY passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her side on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Mary was born in Elmira on October 19, 1946, daughter of the late Gerald Gilbert and Evelyn (Ralph) Smith. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Rena (Donald) White and Rose Farmer, brother, Gerald V. Gilbert, niece, Amy Burris, nephew, Jamie VanHorn, father and mother-in-law, Raymond F. Sr. and Diana B. Updike, brother-in-law, Billy Updike. Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Raymond; sons, Raymond III (Zandra) and Trevor (Misty); sisters, Alta Gilbert, Anne VanHorn and Connie Frisbie; brothers, Mike (Linda) Gilbert, Greg (Andrea) Gilbert, Tommy (Barb) Brooks and Dave (Judy) Brooks; many grandchildren, Kayla, Dustin,Mason, Eli, Malcolm, Skylar and Giovanni; brother and sister-in-laws, Sandy, Debbie (Mike) and David; many nieces and nephews and very special friend, Missy (Philo) Savino. The family will be having a celebration of Mary’s life at a later date. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
