Ray graduated from Corning Free Academy and attended Philadelphia Bible College. He decided he wanted to be a salesman and began his career in the Elmira – Horseheads area. As opportunities arose for him to advance in his career, he relocated his family from Horseheads to Endwell, NY and then to Windsor, CT and then to Bradenton, FL. He took great pride in being one of the top salesman for the various greeting card companies and the construction supply companies he represented throughout his career. When he lived in Connecticut, all of the New England states were part of the territory he covered. When Ray relocated from Florida back to the Horseheads area, he became a guard at the old Westinghouse Electric Plant for Securitas Security and became Captain of the guards at the site. After he retired, Securitas contacted him to come back on two different occasion, which he did. It was from this position he retired again. In service to his community, Ray was president of the Horseheads Optimist Club in 1965 and was the Sunday School Superintendent at the Faith Bible Church in Bradenton, FL. He was very proud of that position. In honoring Ray’s request, there will be no calling hours or a service. For those wishing to make a donation in remembrance of Ray, please contact your local animal shelter or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
