Rita Georgine Rohrer

ROHRER, Rita Georgine Age 88, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Bridges Cornell Heights in Ithaca, NY. Georgine was born in Franklin, PA on June 16, 1930, daughter of the late Lucian and Florence (Keeley) Leta. Georgine was also predeceased by her sister, Mary Nina King and brother, Lucian Leta. Georgine retired from St. Mary Our Mother Catholic School after many years as a teacher and children’s choir director. Georgine is survived by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth; daughters, Kathleen (Marc) Lovell of Elmira Heights, NY, Chris (Leon) Frost of Herkimer, NY and Susan (Jay) Andre of Arvada, CO; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Music was a passion for Georgine. She enjoyed singing around the house, teaching her students and her children the joy of music, as well as singing with the Elmira Choral Society, Common Time Choral Group and adult choirs of St. Mary Our Mother. Family will receive individual condolences at 9:00 am from family and friends on Tuesday, December 18th at St. Mary Our Mother Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am with Fr. Christopher Linsler as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Georgine to the Alzheimer’s Association at 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620, or St. Mary Our Mother School at 811 Westlake St., Horseheads, NY 14845.
