Robert D. Hungerford

Hungerford, Robert D. Age 73, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on August 27, 1944 in Elmira, NY. Robert is survived by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Sheila (Emmons) Hungerford of Elmira; children, Christine Stansfield of Elmira, Gregory (Julie) Hungerford of Canandaigua, NY and Robert Hungerford of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Cody Hungerford of Elmira, Amanda Hunn of Horseheads and Meghan Stansfield of Horseheads; great-grandchildren, Ryder Hungerford and Lennox Franchi; step-grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa and Paul Stansfield all of Elmira; cousins, Danny Gilbert of Elmira and Pat and Jerry Sweeney of Albany, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Robert was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post# 154. In his early years, he enjoyed playing softball and golfing with his best friends and he also enjoyed bowling. He was an avid trout fisherman and Buffalo Bills fan and he loved to travel NY State and visit new places. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James D. Barrett Funeral Home.
