Rosetta "Rosie" Frazer Brobst, age 97, of Oakwood Avenue, Elmira Heights, died peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. Born August 7, 1921 in Laceyville, PA, Rosie graduated Wyalusing PA High School as valedictorian and from Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Johnson City, NY. A registered nurse, Rosie worked as a head nurse and nursing supervisor at the Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira NY and at the office of Dr. Alfred Mitchell. Rosie was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church in Elmira Heights. She served on the church board and taught Sunday School for many years. During WWII, Rosie was a volunteer in the US Army Cadet Nurse Corps Reserve. Rosie was a member of the Chemung Country Civil Defense and the American Red Cross. She served on the PTA at Cohen and Thurston Schools in Elmira Heights. An avid reader, Rosie regularly visited the Elmira Heights Library. Rosie was predeceased by her parents Archie and Leona Frazer of Laceyville PA and by her loving husband of forty nine years, Pierson T Brobst Jr. Rosie was the last surviving of her siblings, Clyde W.B. Frazer and wife Elsie Lindenmuth, Valda A. Frazer (Mrs. Irvin B. Rea), Captain Alice B. Frazer/US Public Health Service, and Lora W Frazer. Rosie is survived by her three children and their spouses, Susan A. Brobst and husband Gerald J Zumchak of Syracuse, Catharine Frazer Brobst of Syracuse, and Alan Kenneth Brobst and wife Maria del Carmen Fu of Lees Summit, Missouri. Rosie greatly loved her grandchildren Thomas Michael Zumchak of Kingston, NJ, Stephen Matthew Zumchak and wife Anne Elizabeth Caramanica of Utica NY, Amanda Renee Brobst and Matthew Jacob Brobst of Lees Summit MO, and Michael Kenneth Weinhauer and wife Reshmi Shelly Naidu of San Mateo, CA Rosie was very proud of her great-grandchildren Emily Rose Zumchak of Kingston NJ and Nicholas Weinhauer and Nathan Naidu of San Mateo CA, and of her many nieces and nephews and their families. There will be no calling hours. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira NY. Arrangements are by James D. Barrett Funeral Home, 1004 Lake St., Elmira NY. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Manor for the excellent care and great kindness given to Mrs. Brobst. Their skill and compassion will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oakwood United Methodist Church, Elmira Heights or to the Elmira Heights Library.
