Stella A. Patros

PATROS, Stella A. Age 98, of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY where she’d been lovingly attended to for the last few years. Stella enjoyed her stay at Bethany and appreciated the care and kindness she was shown. Stella was born on March 1, 1923 in Bernice, PA daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Pastula) Mucha. Stella was also predeceased by her husband, Peter in 1987, sisters, Alice Kaier, Helen Piasecki and Francis Pastusic and brothers, William, Edward and Frank Mucha. Stella is survived by sisters, Josephine Klem and Teresa Mucha; several nieces and nephews and her beloved godchildren. Stella, together with her husband, owned and operated M&M Red Hots for 3 decades. Before that, she was a “War Worker” at the Eclipse plant in Elmira Heights, having joined the workforce in 1943 at the time of it’s peak payroll. If you really knew Stella, you know she was a devout Catholic as well as a devoted Yankees Fan! She enjoyed traveling with her sisters, spending time with family and friends and hot cocoa and cookie night-time snacks. She enjoyed musicals on TCM channel and often listened to polka music on WEHH in Elmira Heights. She turned out some beautiful crocheted pieces over the years and was tickled to produce many different types of crafts as gifts. She held offices in the Daughters of Penelope Auxiliary group and even modeled fur jackets at the Ahepa Hall. A child at heart, Stella lit up the room with her smile and had a kind word for all. Rest in peace, dear lady, till we meet again. Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance gathering in St. Mary’s Church on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 9 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am with Fr. John Desocio as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stella can be made to St. Mary’s Church. Arrangements are with James D.
