Stephen M. Green

August 26, 1954 — January 18, 2021

Stephen M. Green August 26th, 1954 - January 18th, 2021 Elmira, New York, Stephen “Steve” Green has gone home to be with his Savior after a brief but hard-fought battle with illness at the age of 66 on the 18th January 2021. Stephen is predeceased by his mother, Ruth and father, Harold as well as his brother, Ken and sisters, Vivian Birdsall and Maryanne Mood and daughter, Pam. He is survived by his wife Sherry, children Michelle Borger (John Borger), Elizabeth Bonsignore (Phillip Bonsignore), Stephen Green (Jessica Green), 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and sister Marylin Huff of Gansevoort New York. Steve was a 35year veteran of the New York State Department of Corrections where he spent most of his career at Monterey Correctional Facility. Stephen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Steve will be remembered as someone who was always quick with a joke, who was always ready to impart his wisdom into a situation but was most importantly a firm and ardent follower and believer in Jesus Christ. After retirement, Stephen found joy in serving God by spending time with his family and doing work for the church, and other various mission related activities. He especially enjoyed doing prison ministry at Elmira Correctional Facility, food pantry at New Life Assemblies of God, and playing Santa for the Elmira Heights Fire Department. A memorial service for Steve will be held at his church, New Life Assembly of God at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to New Life Assembly of God Food Pantry in Elmira NY.
