Susie Bevilacqua Carozza
Age 93, passed away on August 25, 2026, after an extended stay at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on August 16, 1933, to the late Anthony and Angelina (Louise) Bevilacqua. She retired after 25 years as a Teachers Aide at Booth School. Susie was predeceased by her husband of 50 plus years, Michael J. Carozza Sr. and her daughter, Susan Carozza Somers. Susie and Michael were lifelong residents of Elmira. She is also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Grace and William Bennett, brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Lucille Bevilacqua of Sarasota, FL, Pete and Lucille Bevilacqua of Endicott, brothers-in-law, Charles (Chuck) King, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Bevilacqua Ogershok and Paul Ogershok. Susie is survived by her sisters, Anna Mann of Sarasota, FL, Betty King of Elmira; sons, Michael J. Carozza Jr. of Horseheads and Marc Carozza of Indianapolis, IN; daughters-in-law, Diane Savino Carozza and Pam Carozza; granddaughters, Kristin Somers Allen, Lindsey Somers Harding both of Denver, CO, Mariel Carozza, Amber Carozza and Becky Carozza all of Indianapolis, IN; 6 great-grandchildren. Susie was a faithful and devout catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Lordes Church. She loved her cat Susie Q and her Shih Tzu, Zach. Susie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 9th at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church with Father Scott Kubinski as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul’s Cemetery. For anyone who is unable to attend the service in person, it will be live streamed through Elmira Catholic's YouTube Page at www.youtube.com/c/ElmiraCatholic and click on the Live link to watch the stream. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
