Terry L. Batrony, 65, of Elmira, New York, entered eternal rest on August 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and unwavering kindness. Born on September 2, 1959, to Samuel and Virginia Batrony (predeceased), Terry lived a life guided by his love for Jesus and his belief in the power of redemption.
An avid hunter, bowler, and passionate collector—from books to samurai swords—Terry embraced life’s adventures with curiosity and joy. But his greatest passion was people. A devoted member of his church and longtime volunteer with Golden Key Prison Ministry, he sought out the lost and the broken, offering compassion and a steadfast belief that anyone could change. His work with outreach programs reflected his motto: Everyone deserves a second chance.
Terry’s love for family was boundless. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara; his siblings Margaret "Peggy" (DuWayne) Wheelock, Noreen (Dick) Wandell, Joy Batrony, Samuel Batrony, Jr., and David (Eileen) Batrony; his children Carrie Stone, Scott (Amanda) Stone, Tabitha Batrony, and JD Heatherton; his cherished grandchildren Noah, Ava, Jhenilynn (Hunter), Alivia, James, Alyssa, Brandon, Lily, and Krissy; his adored great-grandchildren Levi and Zachary, and many nieces, nephews and their children who were held dear in his heart. He was predeceased by his sisters Ellen Sexton and Joy A. Batrony and his beloved Aunt Norma.
Terry’s Men’s Breakfast Group—a brotherhood that met monthly for years—held a special place in his heart, as did every stranger he ever tried to uplift. To know Terry was to know generosity: he never met a person he didn’t think he could help.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." —Matthew 25:23
