William L. Shaw

SHAW, William L. Age 91, of Elmira Heights, NY, passed away at home on Monday, May 08, 2017. William was born in Elmira Heights on April 28, 1926, son of the late Justus and Bertha (Hill) Shaw. William was also predeceased by his sisters, Ellen Willett and Barbara Grabowski, brother, Richard Shaw. William served his county in the US Marines during WWII. He retired as foreman from American Bridge Works after many years. William was a member of the Elmira Heights Fire Department for 72 years and was also a former Chief. He was a lifetime member of the Elmira Beagle Club and American Legion Post# 154. William is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eleanor Shaw; daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Orme and Patricia (Nicholas) Santarone; sons, Andrew (Debra) Shaw and Gary (MaryRose) Shaw; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandson. Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10 am to 12 pm at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12 pm with Pastor Fred Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of William can be made to the Elmira Heights Fire Company.
