Yvonne M. Nikulich

September 11, 1956 — April 13, 2022

Yvonne Marie (Wellman) Nikulich September 11, 1956 – April 13, 2022 It is with deep sadness and so much love that we mourn the passing of Yvonne Marie (Wellman) Nikulich on April 13, 2022 at the age of 65 years after a short battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 45 years, Dan; children Andrea (Jeremy) Mravlja, Amy (Bill) Decker, and Daniel (Heather) Nikulich; furry daughter Hannah Nikulich; grandchildren Gabe Mravlja, Corbin Decker, Zach Mravlja, Xavior Decker, Farrah Nikulich, Wyatt Nikulich, and Brynn Nikulich; mother Jeanette Callaghan; siblings Wendy Knott, Tom (Vicki) Wellman, Lori (Eric) Edwards, Ellen (Joe) Snell, Jamie Wellman, Sandy Thomas, and Sally (Joe) Krueger; and more relatives and friends than we can possibly list. She will be dearly missed by her friends at Champions. Yvonne was predeceased by her brother Roger (Tiger) Wellman, brother-in-law Ed Knott, sister-in-law Sandy Nikulich, parents-in-law Steve and Mildred Nikulich, and stepfather Michael Callaghan among other loved ones. Born in Elmira, Yvonne graduated from Southside High School. She met Dan while they worked together at Great American grocery store, and they married soon after. Yvonne lived most of her life in the Elmira area and particularly enjoyed raising her children in the Worcester community where she had many good times and great friends. Dan and Yvonne especially enjoyed beach vacations, cruises, and attending NASCAR races throughout their marriage. Her happiest times were those surrounded by her family and friends. Yvonne loved the holidays in her home when all her kids and grandkids gathered together and had a blast. A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be missed by many, Yvonne would be happy to know how much she will always live on in our hearts. Her children and grandchildren are proud to carry on her legacy of love and kindness. Calling hours will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022 at James D. Barrett Funeral Home, 1044 Lake Street, Elmira, NY 14901. Yvonne’s family welcomes you to join them at their home afterwards for a gathering to relax, share memories, and enjoy time together. Donations may be made in Yvonne’s name to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA. Hannah has brought a tremendous amount of joy to Dan and Yvonne over the past few years. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Robert Packer Hospital for their care and compassion.
